rebuilt engines

My friend has a 95 contour with a 2.5L DOHC v6 and he was wondering where he could get a rebuilt engine. Also i see there are lots of mods for the contours like turbo, anyone have any good sites?

forget rebuilding your 2.5L. just get a 99+ 3.0L out of a Taurus/Sable. You can pick up a low mileage 3.0L for as low as $300 as ive seen. An instant 220+ hp if you add the 2.5L heads and gobs of tq.

www.streetflight.com sells the turbo kit for the contour. i just got mine in the mail about a week ago. The craftsmanship of the welding is awesome!

thank you so much. a few more questions though, should he look online for one or should he check a junkyard/dealership. Also, should he purchase the whole engine or just the shortblock?? Thanks.

id check a junkyard just so you actually know what the condition its in. its up to you whether you want a long or a short block. a 3.0L shortblock with the 2.5L heads is a lot easier and will give you more hp as it raises the compression to 11.2:1. you also have to fill an oil passage in the block itself with jb weld. if you do decide to go with 3.0L heads, the compression will remain the stock 10:1 and youll have to go through the hassle of putting on an electric waterpump because the 3.0L's WP is not driven off the camshaft. My opinion, if your just wanting to stay naturally aspirated is just get a 3.0L shortblock, and swap over everything else from your 2.5L. If you have any other questions, check over on the 3.0L branch of www.contour.org. Many people have done it over there and can answer all your questions.
