a/c leak on 95 Pathfidermtvalade 06-22-2003, 04:42 PM I am semi-illiterate when it comes to cars and parts, but I don't want to pay thru the nose at a dealership. I believe that it is my a/c that isn't working. It actually works fine, but the piece on the right passenger side is leaking, and it is leaking alot. I already attemped the circle part removal, and that is dry. I have seen the leak, but it is rainy now, and I can't work on it until the sun is shiny. Is it under the rectangular box next to the circle container? If not, is it worth me fixing it, or do you think it is for a dealership?I really appreciate any info. Thanks! halbbd01 07-28-2003, 11:32 AM is that plastic resevoir cracked or broken? Someone riding in my truck kicked mine and i had to seal it up with caulk. $2 fix that would have been hundreds at the dealership and it's probably stronger now than having a new one. Buchanan6 02-21-2004, 04:20 PM Had the exact same problem on my 93...Here's the deal: DO NOT take it to a dealer. The reservoir on the passenger side (the black box) collects condensation from the condensing unit. Ordinarily, the condensation collects and drains automatically through a tube that runs out of the reservoir, forward through the firewall, and out to the ground. The problem is that sometimes that reservoir gets clogged with scum (don't ask me how it gets there). To fix this, get a couple towels and dry out your floor board as much as you can...then get a couple more dry towels and arrange them on the floor board so you don't get wet. Next bend yourself how ever you can so that you can access all four sides of the reservoir with your hands. Get a long phillips head screwdriver and a long flathead screwdriver. Unscrew the screws with the phillips, and pop off the clamps with the flat head. On the back side, disconnect the drain tube (It won't leak much...the reservoirs clogged) Now, its gonna be hard to get this thing out because its a tight squeeze; grit your teeth and bear it, it'll come out. Once you get it out Youll see why its leaking. Take it inside and clean it out then just put it back in the same way you took it out. I didn't put the clamps back on...I've found they're not necessary. Don't forget to reconnect the drainage tube. You're done! samalarky 07-21-2004, 08:26 PM Can you tell me where I am supposed to find this box exactly? My Pathfinder has the same problem, every year. I don't understand if you are saying it is reachable from inside the car, under the hood, or under the car. Thanks. Had the exact same problem on my 93...Here's the deal: DO NOT take it to a dealer.
