ok i need help help for modifying standard intake tube.. i dont wanna buy a whole intake system because the airbox to the fuel injection is very big and seems sufficient for airflow, but what if i get a larger tube for the intake part, next to the battery? would that work? any suggestions or anything with pictures of what you might have done would be appreciated. thanks yo

cut the bottom of the box, then it will act as sr intake. no restrictions.

I've seen people use pvc pipe wrapped in thermal wrap and then throw on a K&N for a filter. I wouldn't say it's any different from the metal ones...unless the tubing is near something that could melt it? I probably wouldn't do it though.

I would do what strodda said.

it doesnt really matter where you cut, as long as it below the filter. heres how i did it. its a shitty job cause all i had at the time was a hacksaw. if you have a dremel it will come out alot cleaner. but either way, serves its purpose.

i cut the edge facing the engine bay wall, so theres less of a chance it will be noticed if i ever put it back in to get smogged.

everyother year i have to take my car to get smog checked, basically to see if it meets california state laws for 'co' emissions and such. but im sure your laws are less strict.
