redemption

Well not quite but I'm becoming more consistent at the track. I decided to try California Dragway in Fontana, CA. I guess it wasn't the track prep after all

Track conditions pretty damn hot, low 90s to high 80s. The track is at about 2000 ft.
Here's what she ran, still bone stock, oddly enough still with 1/2 a tank full (I really got to look at the damn travel distance before I head out).

Run 1: 3:02 PM
15th race of the day, the track was still fresh.
I went around the water box only to get yelled at by the track guy.
This guy gave me the evil eye during staging so my R/T was good.

Couldn't avoid the water box on this one so I spun badly.

This was the best run of the night (grudge match Auto vs. M6). The 02 SS M6 had headers, lid, and exhaust. The guy said it was putting down 356 rwhp. He said his Cousin had gotten the car to go 12.5 at 112. His numbers added up in my mind so I was preparing for an a$$ whooping. He said I'd take him off the line (the car was still new to him) but he'd catch me at the 1/8. I took the bad (LEFT) lane (no way around the water box) and did a mini burn out to try and get the water off.

went 4-0 for the day. Now if I can only figure out what's wrong with my mph and get a 2.0 60'. Thanks for the pointers Self and High Flow 5.0.

Well, your RT's improved, but there is still room for improvement. Looks like that light tricked helped a little bit.

Your 60ft times look pretty much the same as before. How are you launching? Do you have a lot of wheel spin? Are you airing down the tires at all? Also what are you shifting at, or is your car an auto?

Look at that last run, that M6 had a 2.5 60ft. OUCH, but he killed you in mph at the end. He really picked up after the 1000ft mark.

Congrats danno!

It is always nice to acheive improvments each time we go out. Makes it all worth the while.

is it faster to drop the clutch and let the wheels spin, or slip it and not let them spin??

I drive an A4 so the question is moot. But the key to a good 60' is minimizing wheel spin. Even with my auto I can't hammer it off the line, spins pretty badly for a 3.23 geared car. I stall the converter to about 1000RPM then go 1/2 throttle at the light and ease the remainder as quickly as I can once the tires have grabbed. This technique has gotten me a best of 2.14 sec. I need DRs.
