All I know about the vigor is that it has an inline 5 cylinder in it. I havent heard of problems with the tranny but if you get a manual that you shouldnt have any problems

The Vigor was the entry level Acura luxury sedan from 1992-1994 and has a 176 hp 2.5L inline-5. It occupied the same market position the 3.2TL does now. The Legend came in two generations: 1986-1990, and 1991-1995. It was the more expensive Acura sedan, and remains such in its current 3.5RL iteration (since 1996). Early Legends had a 2.5L V-6, which was replaced with a 161 hp 2.7L V-6 around 1988. Second generation Legends used 200 and 230 hp versions of a 3.2L V-6.

I've heard Vigors are good, reliable cars, but I know they were not enthusiasticlly received by the automotive press (too bland and not "justifying their high price"). Legends, on the other hand have been raved about by owners and car magazines alike. Now almost a decade out of production, they're still well respected. There was also a coupe version of the Legend.

I average over 21 mpg with my 1990 Legend sedan (2.7L automatic, 1st gen.). And yes, it seems like my transmission may be in the process of going out, but it has 193,000 miles on it!

My advice is to get the lowest mileage, best cared-for second generation (1991+) Legend (coupe or sedan) you can afford. My 1990 is extremely smooth, comfortable, surprisingly fast, and reliable. The 1991 and newer versions ought to be even better on all counts.
