I am going to be picking up a 89 240sx fastback for a $1000 hopefully. I just wanted to know ahead of time if there is any issues with swapping the sr20det black top into this year? or is it a pretty clean swap? Also S13 front clip fit ok on this year? The car has some front end damage and I figured on doing the s13 front clip as well. Thank you.

one problem right off the bat is that the 89 240 sx motor is a sohc and the sr20det is a dohc so the cpu system is different you will have to use the sr20det wireing system.. other than that it seem like a normal engine swap..

another honda bandwagon man, well good choice on the 240 tho, i'd say that you get a sr20det from an s14, I've heard that they drop straight in with no problem plus i love the way an s14 turbine sounds.

i don't see why a black top S13 SR20DET WOULDN'T fit into an S13...but it's a good idea to check up anyways.

as sr20 said, there's a couple of wires and sensors and junk you have to replace here and there to make the engine compatible, but other then that, it drops STRAIGHT in.
