Inline 6 vs. V6The CoCoNuT BoY 06-05-2003, 10:03 PM i know its a stupid question, but i was bored. and i just want to hear what ppl think. so lemme know! which do think is better and why? Neutrino 06-05-2003, 10:06 PM probaly the inline six since it has less moving parts and its a simpler design.....but it takes quite a bit more space that the v6...that why those bmw hase those long noses Layla's Keeper 06-05-2003, 10:09 PM I think we had this debate about a month or so ago. But to answer the question, neither engine has an inherent strength that rises above its inherent weakness disproportionately to the other. Therefore, it comes down to comparing a specific engine versus another specific engine, instead of attempting to make one sweeping statement. fearless_simian 06-06-2003, 12:23 AM what about my beloved boxer flat 6? less vibration and a great sound...even if I do have to take off wheels to change a spark plug ;) NSX-R-SSJ20K 06-06-2003, 08:55 AM Nissan is switching the Skylines from 6 to V6 because it saves space or something like that Does anyone know if its true that the 350Z is getting a V8 in a year or two? SR20DETpower 06-06-2003, 10:52 AM I hope not, I thought they were going to twin turbo it for 2004(5?) or something, followed by GTR in 2005(6?), or the year after the TT Z. 2strokebloke 06-06-2003, 05:44 PM Well, an inline 6, has a weaker block and crankshaft do to their length, uneven cooling, and harder breathing than a V6... but a V6 doesn't have good secondary balace, and therefore needs countershafts to make up for this (more complex, and more vibration than straight-6) And then there's the space issue, a V-6 takes up less length than a straight 6 does. Deakins 06-06-2003, 05:49 PM VR6 baby! SiXPuSHA 06-06-2003, 05:59 PM KL03!! 2.5l and not enuff power :( Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
