Drawing noob

well...

i wanted to learn how to draw cars for a year or so, but i never got farther then looking at the pencils...

well... i'm 13 and before now i never had experience in drawing cars.

now, after reading a bit in the new forum, i bought the book "draw cars" vom Doug Doubosque (or how he's called

). the book says you have to learn how to draw very good side pics. so i am trying it now.

i'm learning just since a few days, but i am statisfied with my progress.

here are 2 cars, i drew today.

tell me how you like them for some of my first tries.

btw. i know that the tires look more like eggs than tires

p.s.: i'm really amazed by your drawings. i wish in some time i am able to draw so cool like you.

Your cars look very good. I see you are shading that is great. What ever you do don't stop. They are very good for not using grids.

to the shading,
on the bug i just made it with the pencil, on the porsche i tried to smudge it with my finger. i think that it looks better than just making the shading with the pencil. i know that there are special tools for smudging ,but i don't know how they look or how they are called... are they usefull? if yes , tomorrow i'm gonna go into our local art store and ask for such things...

i think they're useful there are stumps and tortes (sp) also for the wheels pick up a circle template. i know they have them at office max for like $2 or somthing. it'll really help. looking good

yeah i already planned to get a template for circles. cause i really suck when it comes to draw tires

Dr. Ak check this site out for guide on drawing circle/ellipses with out templates.

Don't get me wrong I use templates all the time.

That's very good for a first try! If you need something to make circles for now, you can use a coin of some sort, or something along those lines. But very nice indeed!

a little bit improving i think

it's a edonis

shading was done with a paperhandkerchief and a 2b pencil and one pencil that is more soft , but i don't know what grade it is... i just found it on a cupboard

Not bad. Nice choice of view. Put another car behind it as if they were racing. That would be pretty cool.

Dr. Ak that is some huge improvement. You are showing value (shades) that is good. I would watch out for the harsh pencil lines around the head/turn signal lights and intake ducts in the bumper. Basically you want to allow your value differences to form the lines for you.

If you are interested check out this book from the library and if you like go ahead and buy it.

It is not focused on cars but on drawing.

Also look through your library for books on grid techniques, and of course the mother of all drawing books.

about the pencillines... i know that the bumper doesn't looks so good, but i couldn't see it very good on my reference pic.
and for the lines around the lamp, they are on the real car too
