Aluminium (not foil ) is pretty good. I suppose any reflective/shiny metal would be sufficient enough.

.......Good reflective material, but too heavy, and holds the heat too much......ally is better, so is foil coated foam plastic.....
(just my 2 cents)
(and easier to form)

I used 3.5mm aluminium sheet... Its easy to bent and fairly easly to cut. Reflects the heat quite well and also looks nice and shiney when the hood is opened up!:grey:

b.h did u put a rubber ribbing around the top of the aluminum to make it a smooth surface??

For those in Sydney..... you can get this foam material with some shiny backing.... which is a heat shield. I bought this material really cheap.... at CLARK RUBBER outlets . I got a metre of it for $10!! And shared it among three cars!! It works! I used it to cover the whole pod filter area which practically shileded the whole area....

A friend of mine..... (sorry mate, if u are reading), bought a really small peice for $90 at a certain performanc shop in Sydney.....

denjam69 ... Nah i didnt to put rubber ribbing round the top. I bent the edges of the vertical plate at 45 degrees and the same with the plate that fitted on top then put three screws in to hold it. It seemed to seal really well.

The shield gets quite warm, especially after a long or fast run, so if you do use some rubber to seal it then make sure you get something that wont burn or melt when the heat gets up.:silly2:

Yeah the whole thing is shielded...
Ill try and get some pics of it online in the next few days.

At first i attempted to arrange it so it was just a side wall heat shield but found it too difficult to stop all the warm air from getting in... Having a top as well allowed for a totally sealed unit.

I then took off the front spoiler and took out the factory induction box (just in front of the wheel arch) I cant think why the manufacturers have gone to so much effort to stop induction noise, it seems to restrict airflow sooo much!!) I used the existing pipe with an extension to attach to the vent in the front spoiler, so ONLY cold air is rammed up into the box containing the pod filter.

Makes a noticable difference, but takes longer to warm up from cold in the morning....

yep cut the aluminium myself with a few basic tools, hacksaw, drill, tin snips and a angle grinder for smooting the edges. The aluminium is so flexible... it is really easly to work with once you have figured out the shape...
If your gonna give it a try then i suggest that you cut out a cardboard template and get it exactly to the right shape before attempting to cut the aluminium.. makes life a whole lot easier...:bandit:

Hello all. First post on this forum. Glad no one took my name. Anyway, has anyone else put a cold airbox on? I did and my pod filter sucked in so much are it created a vacuum because of the lack of air causing a restriction like a limiter. I also constructed a sort of ramp to let more air from the bottom.
