Talking mom into a 68 or so Dodge Charger 440 Corronetblackbob 05-20-2003, 10:48 AM The thread title is long but I didn't know where to put it so I picked here. (mods are wlecome to put it in the correct spot). But anywho there's a junkyard near my house that has a nice Corronet 440 that RUNS&DRIVES I know the guys that own the place fairly well. My best friend is like a son to them. Anyways this car is something that they went to pick up at someone house because the didn't want it anymore. The car runs and all needs work. little almost no rust and interior needs work as usuall. They're asking 1k so it's not to bad of a deal. There's only one problem MOM ! See I need some advice on how to not so much swindle but talk her into it. Right now she's using the it's to old hard to find parts for bid. All I have is the no it's no plenty of companies specilize in old cars.....I need some reiforcements !!! ~BB~ SuPeRcAr_MaN 05-20-2003, 05:05 PM Well, the last couple of sentences made no sense, but I will try to help... I don't want to get personal, but do you have a dad? Fathers would be much easier to convince in this situation than mothers. But I think you should be able to convince her. Definitely tell her how rare the car is and how expensive and rare these cars are in restored form. Are you paying for the car and/or the work that needs to be done? If so, that would help her make a decision. And do you have a job? If not, I suggest getting one so you could get the money to pay for the car and/or the work that needs to be done. Try to convince her that there isn't as much work as she thinks. (There may be a lot of work, I would love to see some pics.) I would definitely do most of the work myself or with friends'/family's help rather than hiring a professional. I would suggest learning how to do body/engine work if you don't already know how. Definitely convince her how much of a bargain $1,000 is for this car. And remind her how much cheaper this would be than another car you would want (even though it might not be after all the work). Get help... Ask friends and family to help convince her. If someone knew a lot about these cars and realized the bargain you are getting, they could help convince her. Well, that's all I can think of right now. Hope it helps and let me know what happens. khanair 06-02-2003, 07:56 PM good luck with the car. if you got some pics post them here and we can help you more. blackbob 06-04-2003, 12:03 AM Oh guys sorry but this dreamed was crushed within the first 5 seconds of me saying the word 440 !!!! So uh....I don't think I will be EVER owning that if she has anything to do with it. ~BB~ Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
