Need HelpWhitePanda 05-20-2003, 05:27 AM Hey guys, I recently bought a used E36, and never owned a BMW. And I just a question about oil changes. I just changed my oil with regular oil, but I was told to use synthetic. If I change to synthetic how often do I need to change my oil, and is there a noticable difference? Celsdogg 05-21-2003, 09:57 PM http://bmwe30.net/cgi-bin/datacgi/database.cgi?file=articles&report=view&ID=00015&Section=14 visit that link, it may be on an E30 site, but it pretty much applies to all combustion engines. . . BMWTECH 07-17-2003, 07:24 PM Depends on the year of the E36. Also depends on the mileage if it doesn't take synthetic as far as switching. As far as advantages, sythetic is a better protective oil that will help with a longer life. If you have high mileage and it doesn't take synthetic then I wouldn't use it, it will cause a bunch of oil leaks because of the molecule make up of the oil. Synthetic is "slicker" so it will leak out of places regular oil wouldn't. vBulletin®, Copyright ©2010, Jelsoft Enterprises Ltd.
