how good are kit cars made ftom vw's

I was looking in the kit car magizine and saw a few kit cars for the old vw bugs. are these kits any good, and are they just for show or can they perform .

Personally I have only seen Fiero based chassis in real life but seen a few VW built kits online. I would go with the Fiero based since they are somewhat easy to come by and seem to fit better.I don't think you could get much performance from a VW motor and it wouldn't sound too exotic on a kit.

The vw is rear engin so thats the main reason I like them and there are an import, Germin the best.

you can get larger cylinders and stroke it out to like 2500+cc i think, I know ive sen around 2300cc, but at that point the sleeves are probably so thin and that engine must run real hot.
