hole in top of gas tankglennbtw 05-14-2003, 07:51 PM The previous owner of my 01 EX must of pushed a little too hard on the drill and punched thru to the top of the gas tank, leaving about a 5/16 hole. ( I wouldn't have done that) Anybody have any experience with patching these things. Epoxys? Anything? Thanks. wheel1856 05-14-2003, 09:02 PM well ya gotta drop the tank, quite a pain. gotta drain it. gotta be REEEAAALLLYY careful...gas explodes. and they do make no spark welding adhesives for that kinda thing. You don't weld, but the adhesive is supposed to be as strong as a weld. and you patch it alot like a hole in a body panel. I can't remember what the stuff is called, but you should be able to track some down at an auto parts store. shouldn't be all that expensive, but a pain to do. I helped a buddy fix a hole in his oil pan like that, so far so good. granted, it was the oil pan. there's always the option to weld a new piece of metal to the hole. BUT, gas fumes are REALLY explosive, and you'd have to do a buncha work that would make buying a new tank easier. mattyoung33 05-14-2003, 09:49 PM basically what hes saying is unless your a genuis with cars bring it somewhere else and have a mechanic do it!:smoka: SiRII 05-14-2003, 10:14 PM or you might be able to buy a used gas tank at a junk yard. B16EJ1 05-14-2003, 10:22 PM Just get a small piece of sheet metal and slap that over the hole. Then get some JB wleld at your local auto parts store, mix that shit up, and smack that shit all around the sheet metal to bond it to the tank. Cheaper than buying the whole damn tank and no draining involved. civickiller 05-14-2003, 11:49 PM yup yup jb weld is the shit, its fixed my cooling system on my other car so many times and its been almost a year and its holding good for me esp 05-15-2003, 10:20 AM Originally posted by SiRII or you might be able to buy a used gas tank at a junk yard. not many 2001's in junkyards yet wheel1856 05-15-2003, 09:21 PM JB WELD!!
