Righto then.......Jimster 11-02-2001, 06:45 AM Well as you all know I am getting a new car to be used as a drivers car. I named some options a while back and have driven them all, but can;t decide which one, so I thought I would hold a poll the winning car, I buy.......... YogsVR4 11-02-2001, 05:33 PM Seems like an unusual way to select a car to pay for...... I'd accept advice but reserve final choice for myself. Moppie 11-03-2001, 01:59 AM Buy an Elise, join club Lotus and Come racing!!!!!!!!!! :D GTS-4 Ben 11-05-2001, 09:52 AM Hard choice. I am a skyline fan. Have driven a R34 GT-T and it is a damn nice car with plenty of power. The tip tronic ones are more of a "drivers car" option.. Still the owner sold it and replaced it with a R33 GTR VSpec. Now there is a CAR! Lotus.. could be expensive to maintain.. Sexy car though and not many around.. but there are not many of any on that list. Holden.. I am a Holden enemy.. but they are a nice car for towing a boat or something, or if you are one of those guys with a mullet.. it will suit you :D EVO VII.. umm just another rally car.. and really not a drivers car.. Although cool car. Moppie 11-05-2001, 06:43 PM Originally posted by GTS-4 Ben Lotus.. could be expensive to maintain.. They use the trusty rover K series engine and gearbox, so service intervals and expenses are about the same as if you bought a Rover 1.6 Hatch, or a Toyota corrola. The only expensive thing to replace is the tyres, but then all the cars on that list will be expensive to get tyres for. The only downside to an Elise is its lack of practicality compared to the other cars, but it's by far the best in terms of driveing experiance. dejoux 11-05-2001, 07:55 PM Undoubtedly the Elise, Ive never seen one moving in real life but I love them, therye my favourite cars, you can keep your F50 or whatever Id be very happy to have on of those. Its the least practical on that list but if you only want a drivers car go for it YogsVR4 11-06-2001, 11:52 AM Its been a few days, you made a decision yet? GTS-4 Ben 11-06-2001, 04:12 PM Yeah, what are you going to buy! Oh and where in NZ you live? I am in Christchurch.. Jimster 11-07-2001, 12:10 AM Well I have done some shopping aaround and test driving and am near buying an Elise but a 8 month waiting list?????? I don't think so, plus I will have to go to Auckland for servicing...... GTV lovely drivers car but quality lacking....... EVO VIII and STi very nice cars but supplies limited SS still a possibility, but a little common, and expensive to run.... The Saab, Audi and Skyline are my hot favourites right now........ BTW. Ben I live in Napier, I used to live in ChCh until last month Jimster 11-07-2001, 12:12 AM also anyone have trouble getting to AF yesterday????? dejoux 11-07-2001, 05:16 AM Originally posted by Jimmy_11_cars Well I have done some shopping aaround and test driving and am near buying an Elise but a 8 month waiting list?????? Does it have to be new? there was one in last weeks autotrader. A 2000 model in silver with only 10,000ks on it for $59,995. Big saving over the new price for a near new car. Like I said go for this if you do have even a slight chance. Yes I couldnt get in either yesterday primera man 11-07-2001, 05:21 AM Originally posted by Jimmy_11_cars also anyone have trouble getting to AF yesterday????? Could'nt get in either. At least you cutting the numbers on the cars you want. Moppie 11-07-2001, 06:39 AM There is always someone looking to sell thier Elise somewhere, and servicing dosn't have to be in Auckland. If you really want one, the guy who owns the Import and service rights is a member of Club Lotus, so I know him pretty well. I can ask about servicing out side of Auckland if you really want. and about any 2nd hand cars. Adam 11-07-2001, 08:45 PM elise all theway. I hear it's fun to drive and it's excellent looking. i hear nothing but great reviews about his wild thing. GTS-4 Ben 11-08-2001, 08:54 AM I would go for the elise over the Skyline as it is just the GT-T.. and the Lotus is far better than it. Audi, Nice car.. but you really want to good one. but It cost ALOT! G-Forces 11-08-2001, 12:27 PM Did you ever consider an S15 Silvia? Jimster 11-08-2001, 10:44 PM Originally posted by G-Forces Did you ever consider an S15 Silvia? Holy shit!!!! I almost forgot the S15 existed, in NZ, you can pick up a factory fresh 184Kw one for only US$22,500, that is a very good idea Jay! 11-08-2001, 10:47 PM Originally posted by Jimmy_11_cars Holy shit!!!! I have seen a Skyline advertised for NZ$60,000 at Nissan in Takapuna and I am on the hunt for a decent Elise.......... MattyG 11-23-2001, 10:15 PM For sheer value for money and looks, I would go for the S15 Silvia Turbo. If you didn't mind to pay a little more however, I think you would have a great time with an Elise.:) Moppie 11-24-2001, 04:46 PM Originally posted by Jimmy_11_cars I have seen a Skyline advertised for NZ$60,000 at Nissan in Takapuna and I am on the hunt for a decent Elise.......... If your really serious about an Elise, send me an email, moppie_nz@yahoo.com I can find out exactly how many Elise's there are in the country, what ones are currently for sale, and of those, what ones a currently worth buying. And I can do it all on Monday night. :D Jimster 11-26-2001, 03:21 PM Nah don't worry Moppie, I have found one in Malaysia that I really like, I have emailed the guy and he seems keen. But either way it is definiltley the Elise, because I know of a huge list of mods I can add to it:D :D dejoux 11-26-2001, 06:07 PM Yay, I think your making the right choice Adam 11-26-2001, 11:38 PM good choice, good choice. SuPeRcAr_MaN 01-19-2003, 07:44 PM Yea, you did the right thing. It was close with the Skyline and the S15, but you were smart picking the Lotus. :flash: RazorGTR 01-20-2003, 09:57 PM Well I am bucking my skyline trend and saying the lotus. That is one fine auto and tons of fun to drive. Quick and awesome handling. Jimster 01-22-2003, 02:26 AM Vince- this thread is over a year old ;) I never got any car- I invested the dosh :finger: Thread closed Automotive Network, Inc., Copyright ©2012
