I'm am looking to buy a 1991 318is. Is there anyhting i should know before handing over the benjimans? Are there any likely problems, or faults i sould know about. Thanks in advance!

Engine-profile gasket failure can cause loss of coolant. Most have been replaced by now. You must remove the cylinder head to replace.

I'd look for worn out front suspension parts, transmission mount and guibo, seat back, A/C compressor, water leaks into trunk, antenna mast lift, ip guages and lights, power door locks and window lifts, radiator. All normal wear stuff.

I'm looking for one myself, and my greatest worry is that is it impossible not to drive the car hard, its too fun and too slow otherwise.

i totally agree, my E30 just got over 100k and i am worried about the wear and tear. . .but i cant stop myself from punching it. . .

i know that the 91 318i's do not have then M20 engine of the 325 counterparts, nor does it have the M10 engine of old, so do these issues apply to it as well? i dont know know anything about those 318i's. . .
