Gladly it's finished.
The kit is an old Formula Canada resin curbside kit.

Sit relax and enjoy!

Great job. I did one of their Riely's so I know these need alot of work. Looks just like it did in 1972. What a sweet ride.

I own one also, and I'm a bit surprised to see how almost all details of this accurate curbside kit would be at last covered up.....

Also the decal's job to do on front fenders vents looks a bit intimidating...

Well done, looks like you worked a lot on gearbox area, I wish to build the Dohoue's 917.

Beautifully done. One of my favorite cars.
I used to have the AFX slot car of this. Always ran that little thing.

How would you rate this kit compared to a Fisher or Lemans Miniatures kit? I have been considering one but have never seen one in person or read any reviews on them.

Hi Rennsport,
I've never build another resinekit before. This was the first one which I finished.
I have also other brands in my stock-pile but I have to build them in the future though!

I own:
UMI (looks worse)
Fisher (looks the same as this Formula Canada)
Reji (looks worse)
Studio27 (looks much better)
Mini Exotics (looks worse)
Toj-Drom (looks the same)
Model Factory Hiro (looks the same, with more white metal and PE)
Profil24 (looks better)

But I still can recommend this kit. It builds of easy with minor problems on the secundary rear wing. The tires are also in resin, but I changed these with rubber slot tires.

Good to hear. I've got some of those cobby ones too (umi and worse, MHA). I sometimes get leery with unknown resin casters. Just wait until you buy something from Thailand. By the way, who is the avatar? I recognize the face but can't get the name.

What's from Thailand? (I mean which brand or model's?)

The avatar I use is my big hero Jim Hall. That's the guy behind the famous white Chaparral cars. He still alive today. I have mostly al his models in 1/24 kits. still one to go, that's the Chaparral 2C from Fisher.
He was the inventor of wings, sidemounted radiators, airducts and downforce.

Sorry I lied , because I also have the 2C. I ordered that last autumn with Paul Fisher, almost forgot.
I guess that I should build one of these Chaparral's very soon, because I see that there are more lovers of Can-Am racers,.... Viccario!!

Mech,
One of my heroes has always been your very own, Jacky Ickx. He's better than a rock star and has been very good to my marque.

Thailand is the home of resin pirates who recast original kits and then sell them cheaper. Its always a gamble when you buy something out of there. Some kits aren't bad though. Most are non automotive subjects. I could not resist a 1/6 Honda NSR250R motorcycle with a female Hottie rider. Search Asuka motorcycle. Most of these Thai kits are low quality resin and require twice the cleanup. I don't condone pirates, but funds are tight and I will owe Vispo some $$ down the line.

Yea, I like fisher. I have a bunch of his Porsches. His resin and cast quality is exceptional. Ironic that he's color blind. He even gave me an extra set of RSK wheels to clean up doggy 550 that I bought prior to buying his kits. The guy is great.

Yes, I also live in Belgium, but born and raised in the Netherlands.
I like Jacky Ickx aswell, and he is a great racerdriver for sure.
You know Gijs van Lennep, Toine Hezemans and Jan Lammers, well they are from Holland too. I'm also a classic Porsche racing freak, and collect BMW's and other German race-kits. (only 1/24 and 1/25)
Thanks for the info about Thai resin copy's. I will keep my hands of it offcourse.

Yup,
Gijs van Lennep is next on my list. I'm a Porsche man too. I have tried to collect the entire line of street and race cars to present. Lately I have expanded my decals to represent the best of my favorite drivers. I built Follmer's IROC recently and took considerable time deciding on him from the others in the series. Must have something from all of the greats. How about Count Carol De Beaufort for an early winged 550 Porsche. It would complement the Chaparrals nicely.

Mike Quarterman from the old UMI is also color blind, and he does decals.

Fisher is planning some new 1950's subjects this year. I always wanted him to do this 917/10 as the FC and UMI kits are not that good. The body looks to square on the FC and the UMI one is really old and kind of crude, but the later castings are better. He cleaned it up as he went along.

If Hiro did a 917/10 it might be amazing, as long as they didn't screw it up.
