Unhappy Not Starting

I have a 1997 Rodeo with 84,000 miles on it. ABout a year ago I started to experience electrical problems, the batter was overcharging, the alternator went bad, the starter went bad, then the alternator again....now it was good for three months until yesterday.

I pulled in to unload my dads luggage, turned truck off and 3 minutes later came back to leave for home. The truck jsut clicked, like when the starter was bad, only this time the dash lights for the tranny registered D3 and the R, but never park, I have had battery checked, checked all fuses and left battery off to reset computer, no avail, still in D3. The tranny shifts you can hear it, however you cant get it to register its in Park or Nuetral, thus it wont start.

Any ideas......Dealer said check Ignition relay, where is that

Any ideas appreciated

hey, well if your starter is just clicking, sounds like you have a weak battery. If you had a bad starter, it wouldn't really click even. N E ways, about your tranny problem, you prolly need a new auto tranny PCM, cuz the control unit that GM put on this car is a piece of crap and it starts having problems whenever it wants. I guess the best way to go is get a new PCM for your tranny. Good Luck.

Re: Not Starting

Dude, I feel ya. My Rodeo is a 1998 that just turned 80.000 miles. I have replaced the transmission. I had to use parts from my original transmission to fix the new(refurbished) one I bought. I bought a new battery because it wouldn't start. Then, I had the alternator rebuilt(which they obviously didn'y do right.) The vehicle ran on the battery for a few months (the alternator may be working sometimes. Not sure.) Now, it won't start again.... just clicks. I'm at my wits end AND between jobs. I can't keep pouring thousands of $$$ into this d#mn car. Good luck to you. If you find out anything new let me know. I'll try and let ya know what(if anything) I find out too. Later...
