01 jimmy no power

I have 01 jimmy that has no power when i step hard on the gas, the revs dont increase, and it bogs, but if i step slow or let go the gas a bit and then step on again then it starts to pick up speed. Some days it runs better than others, and when the engine is cold it acts up more. I have to baby it to get it up to speed I also have goten codes po128 and p0410 every now and then.Any help would be much appreciated.

Re: 01 jimmy no power

Welcome to AF. 128 is the thermostat, engine is out of temp range or the temp sensor is bad, a scan will show that, 410 is the AIR system which wouldn't affect power. Low fuel pressure, or a bad cat are the more common issues with the symptoms.

Re: 01 jimmy no power

I still have the same problem after changing the whole exhaust including the resonator/pre cat, cat, and mufler, so i guess that wasnt the problem. I was wondering if it could be a bad distributor? I also noticed that if i floor the gas the rpm's drop and engine feels like it will stall, and sometimes depending how long i keep my foot on the gas the engine backfires. Any help would be much appreciated, I just need this jimmy to last until the spring.Thanks.

Does anyone know how much you get for scraping the catalytic converters, I know they are worth someting because of the special metals in it

Re: 01 jimmy no power

Scrap rates vary depending on the area, check with a scrap metal dealer.

As maxwedge mentioned... have you checked fuel pressure and leakdown?

Clean the Mass Airflow Sensor too. Mine caused all kinds of driveability issues yet did not set any codes for it.

Re: 01 jimmy no power

What was the pressure and how long did it remain above 55psi after the fuel pump shut off?

Re: 01 jimmy no power

Excessive leakdown will cause a lack of power, better check it again to be sure.
