Replacing the Headliner

OK, Does anyone have any good and easy way to remove the spong padding the seats between the Headliner cloth and back board. I tried the tennis ball rub, but that didn't work. Putty knive scraping didn't help either. The spong is only brittle in some places. Any ideas????????

Only thing I can think of would be try some or carb cleaner.
Or check with a uphoster shop and see what they use.
Good Luck

Got it. I use acetone and it came right off. Thanks for your suggestion.
