86 blzer 2.8 eng,4x4 transmission

the drive shaft turns in every gear and all foward {is on 4 jack stands
]and the eng light comes on ,not blinking stays solid ,
the 4x4 will not engage{slips out ,

i am puzzled no answer in the chilton { no code reader either} the fluid is up to level and the color is good and no smell .any ideas?

If in 4W the front drive shaft is locking in?
Then check actuator on front axel for locking in front axel.
Most are vacumn and cabel operated.
Down in S-10 forum there should be a how to on it.

Is it a S-10 blazer with 4W floor shift and shift indicator lights there and 231 transfer case?
All 4W lights working right?
