BMW Museum in Munich.

I'm heading off to Munich in a little over a week, and planning on heading to the museum whilst I'm there.

Now I know BMW have F1's in their possession (silver roadcar/FINA GTR?) but from recent photos I've seen of the museum, I can't seem to find out if the cars are on display at all.

Does anyone know if they are or not? Most likely I'll never see an F1 in my life, so this could be my only chance to see one.

Contact them direct and ask politely, if you could visit them while you are over in Germany. They can only say yes or no!!

I have been in BMW Museum last august, and they were no McLaren at all...only the engine M75 (similar to the S70 from McLaren) that they used on the BMW LMR V12...

There are two museums - one that is open to the public and one that is generally regarded as quite difficult to gain access too. It is the second one which houses the McLarens. It does seem that more and more people have managed a visit it recently though.

This Number #38must be #18R which is owned by BMW today? Or is this #17R? It can't be #16R. Or is it?

2. They have mixed the racing numbers.........
3. They have put the drivers names on the door just in case....

Yes, I went through the entire thread. Quite an event that was!

Sami - that is #18R in the BMW Museum. It never wore that livery in real life though - it is a recreation of #16R at LeMans '96 and they have finally corrected the race number on the flanks and nose to read '38'.

Ok! Things got clear once again. I quesed that it must be something like this. Thank you nice detail again!

I hope I'm not the only one who has took couple of whisky's try to understand and find the right chassis right racing number. When you have tree or four different information, right driver names, wrong racing number, but right livery....

When I first looked at it, I almost took it for one of Richard Thompson's shots of #036. Then I realized the front plate is missing, and that it's actually #047 from the BMW Museum. I confirmed this as a fact, when I found an identical shot (crappy version) already with the rest on this car
