I guess it's a start, but to be honest ... you should get another kit and try building it a) following kit instructions, and b) following all the good advice and guides you will find on this forum. This one is perhaps destined for a cardbox box that you'll open every 5 years to remind you where you started. Good luck on future builds.

Re: skyline r34

It's quite evident to me that you hand-painted on the paint with a brush. A few tips I can offer are:

1). (Most important) Take your time - Think through what you're going to be painting eg. it looks like you've painted the wheels with the tyres on because you've gone over onto the tyre in some places. Paint the rim first, then once it's dry to handle, then put on the tyres. Even if you're handpainting, take time getting your edges perfect (side windows & boot lid). You could have touched up any mistakes.

2). Use spray cans or an airbrush to apply paint. Small pieces like in the interior can be hand-painted. Along with this is to use good quality masking tape. You'll achieve much better coats of paint and definition of your lines if you're going to do two-tone. If you can't buy Tamiya TS-range paints, try your local Halfords but always remember to use plastic primer first.

3). Don't touch the clear parts of the kit until you really have to. Paint the body first and once you're happy with it, then apply the clear parts of the kit. Don't use the same glue (plastic cement) as you've used for your body parts. Find a good white glue as they dry without fumes & clear.

Also, from what I can see, don't apply the metal transfer decals until after the paint. It seems you've painted over yours. If they were there before (you said rebuild) then use a high grade of abrasive paper (MicroMesh polishing pads/Halfords wet & dry paper etc) and gentle polish the metal until the paint comes off.

A lot of information is found in the FAQ: http://www.automotiveforums.com/vbul...ad.php?t=63623 which you should read. Looking more and more at your build, I'm starting to like the two-tone scheme....I'm normally not a fan but yours is growing on me. Really looking forward to seeing your future builds and progression. Best of luck

please, take your time for your next build!

scrap this one and keep the parts that could be reused with another car.

take a look at the tutorials and tips for a better build.

Re: skyline r34

I couldn't stop laughing at all the comments here. Seriously mate, I can't stop laughing at it. Take your time, invest on some good paint. Tamiya paint ain't cheap but they're aren't that expensive either.

I think it's safe to say this car is scrapped or store it to see how long you've come in the future. My first build was like that, but not as horrid. I did manage to rebuild it though and it came out better IMO.

Re: skyline r34

well, at least you painted it. My first one wasn't even painted and it ended being just a block of plastic, glue, decals and four wheels...

keep trying dude, look carefuly to the wip's and you sure will learn a thing or two.

A start, is a start. It takes a LONG, LOOOOOOOOONG while until you reach perfection. And even at that, no one really reaches perfection. Just one point of criticism, DO NOT EVER PAINT A BODY WITH BRUSH!!!!!

Re: skyline r34

Well... it has more paint on it than my first model had. But leaving the paint of might have yielded a better result, I guess. Anyway, we all started there and got ahead eventually.

Advice: go to the model store and look what they have on sale. The subject of the cheapest model in stock might not be what you desire to build - but buying the cheapest kit available makes the learning less painful moneywise. Build the cheap kits and apply the tips you find in this forum. Look for the FAQ thread, it answers most of the questions a nebiw could have.

Good luck. Any questions? Feel free to ask...

At least you have the balls of posting the pics... i must admit, its not the best or the worst i've seen. I remember my first build, glue on every thing except my model . Stick around here and learn stuff from other people, i did the same.
