Re: 3000gt's/Stealth very own off topic thread: Part Quatre

Had my power hour at midnight last night (I guess technically this morning) for my 21st birthday. All I can say is that whoever thought of the power hour celebration should be shot. Eh, I am going back to bed.

^^Power hour is when you go to the bar from midnight to 1 am and take 21 shots for your 21st birthday. And my God, it is a living nightmare. On a side note, this message took approx. an hour to type correctly.

uhh...thats not power hour...that's suicide lol.
Power hour is a shot of beer every minute for an hour. It ends up being like 8 beers in an hour...one hell of a way to start the night.

EDIT: found this on wiki....that explains out different interpretations

"Power Hour, with its variant Centurion (or Century Club), is a drinking event where every player drinks one shot of beer every minute. Each shot contains 1.5 fluid ounces (US) (45ml), for a total of 90 fl. oz. (2.66 litres, 4.68 Imperial pints) of consumption during the power hour. For purposes of blood alcohol content, this amount of beer is equivalent to 7.5 drinks. In the Centurion variant, beer shots are drunk one per minute for 100 minutes, with a shot size of 35ml, totaling 3.5 litres, 6.16 Imperial pints, or 9.9 drinks. All players that successfully complete the total number of shots without retiring are considered winners. The game is simple and may appear easy, but players often have difficulty completing it. The rate of alcohol consumption necessary to win either form of this game can depend on weight and other factors. The rate of alcohol consumption is what makes the players feel intoxicated within such a short period of time.
In the Midwest and Great Plains regions of the United States, many people play Power Hour during the first hour, starting at midnight, of their 21st birthday. The birthday celebrant attempts to drink 21 shots within the first hour. Several alcohol poisoning deaths related to this activity have led to legislation in Minnesota, North Dakota and Texas."

you nebraskinians are crazy i guess...nothing else to do up there?

There is other things to do, and we do in fact do those other things...we just do them drunk.

And I have done that one shot of beer every minute for an hour but that shit is bush-league.

PS: I'm a Nebraskan or an Omahan.

I don't like to spoil the party but this is an AUTOMOTIVE forum.
Driving a car or even working on one and drinking alcohol are a dangerous mix!
I'm glad I don't have the habit of drinking alcohol.
Not only does it take away a persons self control but its costs financially are exorbitant!
The benefits of abstinence from alcohol far outweigh the bit of pleasure from indulging in it.

And Remember I am a driving instructor, if I did indulge in alcohol I would lose my job!

Yup, and that is why I don't drink and drive. And I know what alcohol does to people as I have undergone its affects multiple times. As far as the benefits from not drinking as oppose to drinking...that is all in the eye of the beer holder.

As far as this being an automotive forum, yes, that is true. I have also almost never seen a post of yours that pertains to anything automotive. Not that it is a problem as we have sub-sections such as the political forum and off-topic threads (such as this) where automotive discussion is rarely every discussed.

And being that you are a driving instructor, you could still induldge in alcohol as long as you don't misuse it (ie. drunk driving). Not everyone that drinks is a criminal when they do so.

maybe if you're getting completely shitfaced...buy when you own a 3/s, working on it WITHOUT drinking is hazardous to your health

Anyways, i feel sorry for those who don't drink, becasue when they wake up in the morning, that's the best they're going to feel all day long.
Like SL said, just becuase your a driving instructor doenst mean you cant/shouldn't drink. I'm an air traffic controller. It's all about self control and drinking responsibly....if I'm gonna get completely bombed, i always make sure i have a ride, and NEVER drink within 8 hours prior to work.

vr4choke- I'm 20, so no biggie

CL8-I dare you to work in 100+ degree weather(i.e. Texas) and not think a cold beer at the end of the day is delicious. Also, if you think an alcohol-free world would be a better place, I suggest you study up on prohibition in America. Great success.

I'll agree that alcohol is some nasty shit in the fact that it is in no way healthy, it can make you act like a tard, and it's not cheap. Not to mention some of it tastes like ass. However, if someone enjoys it responsibly, I don't care.

Morphius, as for your example, that would depend on the beer.
