Re: Truck clicks but wont start.

Use a socket and 1/2 inch long ratchet and make sure the engine turns over.
Use an DVOM and make sure you are getting over 11 volts to the starter when trying to crank. Check the small wire coming to the solenoid and make sure its getting 12 volt. Did you clean the battery terminals?
Reply when you have done these tests.

"make sure you are getting over 11 volts to the starter"

So, he'll be OK at 11 1/4 volts?

"Check the small wire coming to the solenoid and make sure its getting 12 volt"

Sure sounds like solenoid is functioning. If not, what do you think is making "clicking"?

Good tip on attempting to turn over manually. I do this on bikes. You should tell him where to attach socket (I don't know either) and to remove plugs before trying.

Related to the above, I have turned automotive engines over at flywheel using prybar.

For OP - was this truck ever running for you, and if so when?

If it was running last week,, recheck all your connections.

Re: Truck clicks but wont start.

A battery has about 2.1 volts per cell or 12.6 volts fully charged. They will drop when trying to start a few times. If the problem is fixed they should turn over with 11 volt to the started. If a cell goes it would be 10.5 volt fully charged and probably won't start.
Their is an harmonic balancer pulley where the belts go on. It is bolted on I use a socket, short extension and a long 1/2 inch ratchet. I can turn over a 5.8L with the plugs in. If you have a big bike surely you could also.
As I didn't hear the clicking I put in about checking power to the solenoid but this is probably what is clicking. Loose battery terminals are a big cause of this problem.
