AC Question
Hi (1st post) have just acquired a 99 ZX2. Got the car wholesale and paid about half normal selling price for the year. Car seems basically ok and I like driving it, quite a bit different from prior car, a Buick Park Ave! One thing though; selecting AC/Max AC is not producing cold air. I don’t see any evidence of AC equipment under the hood. Now this is the basic model and everything is manual. I don’t even have an owner’s handbook or manual yet. Uh I realize this is a dumb question, but where is the AC unit? OR are these cars fitted standard with AC controls on the panel even though the car is not equipped with AC? Appreciate if anyone could give this ignoramus a clue Thanks.
p.s. learning a lot about the car from this forum. |

Re: AC Question
If it has an AC it will have a condenser in front of the radiator. Also, it will have a recieiver/dryer on the firewall. Will have a compressor on the accessories of the engine. But, the best way to check is to look in front of the radiator to see if there is a condenser. It is a smaller finned heat exchanger. I would say that it probably has an AC, but it just isn't working. I don't know of any cars today that don't come with an AC. You may need some freon added to it if it's not working.
