Are AutoCraft Car batteries good?

They ranked #7, 17, and 34 (depending on the type) on a list of 39 batteries by Consumer Reports in late 2005. I prefer A C Delco batteries as I average about 8 years from all the ones I've owned as well as many friends and associates have experienced the same results.(BTW A C Delcos ranked 4,13, and 26 in the same report.) Their prices compare with the other brands carried by your local auto parts stores and is the OEM battery for GM.

I don't think I had to replace my AC Delco battery until the car was 6-7 years old. And the battery still held a charge fine, except that a terminal seemed to have corroded off. I've had the autocraft now for over a year without any problems. Here's a link to a consumer report ratings of batteries.

but yeah, i still have my AC delco in my 97 SE still starts no problem! and we have been having nights lately where it gets down to -30F!!

Back when I worked for Advance, the Autocraft batteries were pretty good. The low end Silver series batteries were the most problematic, but that was usually due to a part time parts monkey selling a guy a 450-525 cca battery for his fully loaded Caddy/Lincoln that requires 750-850 cca. Just before I left Advance in 2003, the company that made their batteries was bought by Exide (which are junk), and they scrambled to find another manufacturer (as the Brass at Advance also knows Exides are JUNK). Maybe since then they went downhill a bit. I always take Consumers Reports data with a grain of salt. In their car reviews, a domestic car with a rattle was always "totally unacceptable", but a Japanese car with the same rattle was always mentioned as "a mere slight annoyance in an otherwise well built car".
