Why is SeaFoam the only Cleaner that works?
I have 95 Olds Cutlass Supreme, 3.1 with 190000 miles. Over the last two years the car occassionly runs roughly, like it only running on 5 cylinders. I was told the fuel rail clogs up on the 3.1 and SeaFoam is the only cleaner that works to get it running correctly again. When it starts to run roughly no check engine lights come on, it starts normally and runs. Can anyone help me what might be going on and why SeaFoam the only cleaner that works.

Re: Why is SeaFoam the only Cleaner that works?
I wouldnt say it's the "only" one that works. Though it does work good.
I alternate between Lucas and Seafoam, one month I add 8oz. of seafoam(1/2 can), next month I use a small bottle of Lucas. It has kept the misfires at bay on both my GA'a ! A lot of FI autos hav problems with injectors clogging, which IMO is likely from the gasoline we buy, and the way our fuel systems work. Other then seafoam you could have your fuel system cleaned profesionaly, $200-350, or buy the fuel system cleaner kit and do it your self, around $700. They used to sell a kit just for our model engines for about $300, I couldnt find it on thier site but they probly still carry them. Napa sells the kit... see this link, here is the cleaner for that.

Re: Why is SeaFoam the only Cleaner that works?
Will running Seafoam or the Lucas cleaner eventually clean the fuel rail and injectors or does a cleaning only take care of it? Thanks for your help

Sure will, may take a few tanks to start cleaning them up.
I wouldnt use the stuff if it didnt work or help. These engines are prone to misfires and clogged injectors are one of the culprits, the other being ignition system components, ie plugs, wires, coils etc etc.
