97 ford escort code p1443
i scanned it and got code p1443. i checked out the part and found that the hose for it was unhooked. i looked all over but could not find a place to connect it. any help with this would be great, or a link to a vacuum hose diagram. i tried eautorepair.net and bought a chiltons manual. both were a waste of money as they did not show me anything useful.

Re: 97 ford escort code p1443
Ford Technical Services part #FCS-12117-97 is the "Electrical and Vacuum troubleshooting Manual" for the 1997 Escort/Tracer. Avail at helminc.com for $35 or so.
But don't expect the schematics to be as helpful as other manufacturers. Your problem is with the EVAP system. It would very helpful if you could just get a peek under the hood of another Escort. Other than that, it's a very simple circuit. A hose begins at the bottom of the thottle body on a "barb prong". Next the hose route goes through a valve and a flow sensor, on to the carbon cannister. Another hose starts off at the cannister and works it's way back to the gas tank. Look for cracks in the hoses and also debris that may have gotten sucked in while disconnected ... before suspecting the sensor or valve. |
