idle surges
I have a 1985 318i. The car starts normally but then starts to rev and then back off. I does this continually. When I start the engine cold it takes a few seconds or longer to start depending on how cold it is outside.
Any suggestions? Tony |

Re: idle surges
I have the same problem on start up on cold days. And when I'm low on gas. I don't have any problems once I get going.

Re: idle surges
I had this problem on a 2001 audi A4. I replaced the MAF(Mass Airflow Sensor) and it corrected the problem. But it is possible it could be something else. 90% sure replacing the MAF will solve it.

Re: idle surges
Get some intake cleaner and see if that helps.. Cars do that sometimes and it usually happens when the car thinks its cold.... its acctually kinda normal but if your car does it and its 1000 degrees outside then Id worry.
