Re: GT to a GTP
wow. a 98 gtp w/ 104k is worth about half that. I just bought a 99 gtp w/ 90k fer 7.5 grand and its in perfect condition w/ all available options, and since pontiac made some improvements on the 99 model, the 99 is worth like 2g more than the 98. I donno where u guys got 9g, but since u obviously like going through very old posts..... r u sure this guy wasnt planning on paying 9g fer it three years ago, when it was worth tht? ....just a thought

Re: GT to a GTP
My one GTP shows, 103,000. Motor has about 500 on new motor. I run a Thrusher cold air box, 3.4 pulley and some killer rocker arms. Just posted a new thread on my other one. Made same changes on this one. Now my gas mileage has dropped like a mad man. Can't figure it out. Dropped from 18 to 15.7. Air box should give you better mileage. But it's not.

Re: GT to a GTP
The only time I get into it is when a "1/4 Pony" wants to show off his 5.0, then I have to. Have a good night.

Re: GT to a GTP
okay, so like i was saying, a cool air intake wont help gas mileage(especially w/ a smaller pulley) unless you drive very...grandmotherishly... even if your not racing everyone you see, you probably wont save gas. A cool air intake does uses the same idea as a turbo or supercharger9 obviously to a lesser extent), it allows more air into the engine. As you probably remember from chemistry class, oxygen is required in order for combustion to take place, and more oxygen allowes more powerful combustion in your engine, so if you were to drive slowly, you wouldnt need as much gas to get the combustion you need for slow slow slow, everyday driving. More air doesnt always save gas thought, because what it also allows is the combustion of MORE gas at one time, which is what happens when you drive with a heavier foot (even if you dont consider youself to be a personw/ a heavy foot. It really doesnt take much). So even though it is possible to save gas w/ an intake, it is much easier to lose gas mileage. That 3.4' pulley doent help your mpgs eithersuperchargers give very inefficient hp gains, and smaller pulleys dont help his.

Re: GT to a GTP
Thanks. The GTP is a fun car to drive. The GT reminds me of my Grandmothers car. But, with the price of gas, I may have to drive it to work. Save the GTP for Friday nights and other fun nights.
I have a bunch of other parts on order for it. The way things are going I may have to break the 66 GTO to save gas. And that only gets 4.5 miles to a gal. MAX.
Thanks again

Re: GT to a GTP
Thanks. Have you read the post on a return line coming off the AC that plugs sometimes and soaks your passenger floor. I'm having that trouble with the GTP. Did you ever hear of this?

Re: GT to a GTP
Kid,
Try www.clubgp.com and search A/C or water on floorboards.
There are probably a few threads about the ac problem.

Thanks. At 55 I don't get called "Kid" a lot.
Just received a email from a guy about it. I think I can find it now.
Thanks again

Re: GT to a GTP
I didn't take it that way. My wife tells me that I will never grow up.
Cars are my way out of all the junk you find in oyur every day life. Been going "fast" for as long as I can remember. Been hitting dragways since 7/20/1966. Last time was 7 days ago.
I take kid as a prize. The kustomkid came from building custom fishing rods (15 and 16 footers) for a long time. Like fishing light line. Have to build your own.
Thanks again

Hey, I was 16 once. Grow up when you have to. Have fun when you should. And always remember, life is too short.
Thanks again
