Help! 2002 Civic Rear Door Panel Removal
How do I remove the rear door panel on my 2002 Civic EX? I've popped all of the fasteners loose and the two screws behind the inside latch lever have been removed. There are obviously additional screws to remove, but I don't know exactly where they are or how to get at them.

Re: Help! 2002 Civic Rear Door Panel Removal
The front and rear doors are very similar wen removing. I'm sure you just arent lifting the door off its clips. Here is a DIY for a front door removal see if this helps any I couldnt find a rear door panel removal DIY.
Remove screw inside door handle. Pop out the cover using a very small flat screwdriver from the front and remove the screw using a phillips. Use small flat to pop open the cover inside the door latch. Remove two phillips screws there. Detach door latch by prying out from front, and detach door latch connecting rod from clip by first unclipping it, then popping the rod out from underneath. Remove power window switch panel (front of entire door handle). Contrary to earlier reports, it is not necessary to remove the rubberized rear section of that. Pop out the front of the handle, and slide forward. Remove the two screws you see in picture 3. Use panel popper to pry out tweeter section (if equipped) from hypotenuse of triangular piece. Let tweeter mount hang. Pull with fingers by inserting into front bottom of door panel (there is a space there) and give it a good tug. Remove remaining clips by using the panel popper. Insert panel popper between clip and door, and use leverage. Lift rear end of panel first, and then slowly work towards the front. Unplug all power accessories connected to door panel. You will now see the speaker mounted on the door. Insert panel popper into the slot located at the top of the speaker frame and press down. Pull top half of speaker away from door slowly until the metal clip has cleared the door. Lift lower half of speaker upwards. |

Re: Help! 2002 Civic Rear Door Panel Removal
Thanks for the reply, BrodyP. I'm not quite clear on one line of the instructions.
Pop out the front of the handle, and slide forward. Remove the two screws you see in picture 3." You wouldn't happen to have the picture mentioned here? By "handle" do you mean the armrest? (I've already removed the two screws behind the latch lever.) The armrest seems to be assembled from a couple sections of rubber and plastic. It looks like there might be a removable plastic cap over the front of the armrest, and I'm wondering if there are screws behind it. I just don't want to be prying on it unless is is really supposed to come off. I'm flying by the seat of my pants here, and I hope this makes sense. Thanks |
