Hey look there goes the point . He is anti anything American. If you are a regular viewer and watched the whole clip you would see that.

in Britain, when it comes to cars, just about everyone is anti-american. i'm not going to go on about handling and fuel efficiency (or the lack of it)
i like american car, admittedly a limited selection of them. but most of the time when i talk about the handling of them, i'm joking. i don't really care about that handling of some vehicles, like the F-150 i want, i don't care about handling because i'm not going to go throwing it around some race track, racing on the edge.

I can understand not fully appreciating certain vehicles and can understand not liking the typical auto from a certain country of origin but to so matter of factly express your bias from someone who is suppose to offer a third party real world perspective is unprofessional.
It would be like me saying a supra can't make power cause its country of origin is Japan and the Civic comes from there and they aren't all that powerful (just pulling a example out of my ass, I know there are quick civics out there).

Re: Friends car, Sweet
i know, i think the main problem with some car journalists and critics is that they drive so many top-end cars and supercars that they get used to it. and if they're in something that doesn't cost as much, and doesn't have the same specification then that's below their standards, it's like building up a tolerance to something.
i've been in 3 Z06s, a stock on, an 850bhp blown one and a full-on blown 572-powered one. and with the exception of the last, they all handled very well, we didn't go on a track but my friend pushed them to the limit and they held well.
the reason the third didn't handle too well was weight, it was set up for drag racing and a twin-turbo 2,000bhp engine doesn't allow you too much grip in the bend.
(in thurth, they weren't three different cars, it was the same one but the owner had it "evolved" to pursue his drag racing desires.)

Re: Friends car, Sweet
Well the handling for there time frame on C4 - C6 has been right up there in skid pad numbers with most of the German built exotics. So to me its just bias when someone says something like American cars can't handle or that the prior models didn't handle well. Just take a look at the skid numbers on the ZR1 C4's and then tell me that car can't handle.
Sure the refined feel of the exotics is awesome to have a car that will deliver awesome performance on the track as well as give you a comfortable ride home. Its the best of both worlds but to be honest I prefer the more raw feel of true american muscle.
It would be like comparing riding a wild stallion verse a race horse who was trained for someone being on his back. It all about one's preference and thats where someone should not be influencing the consumer with there own idea of what they want.

Well... he is a jackass. If you can't tell that he can't honestly say the he likes the car and that Chevy has a nice product with a few minor flaws just because he used to driving cars like Bugatti's and Ferrari's then I can't help you.
Listen to it. All he talks about is how great it is in terms of brute force, but how it sucks handling and it's accoutrements are substandard (or however the hell you spell that). It out performed his precious ferrari (and many others) on the course and drag strip... if it out performed the ferrari on the road course how in the hell can it's handling be substandard? (Use your head kid!)
Personally, I think he's miffed that the Americans built a car that out performs MOST supercars and sell it for 30% - 38% of what the supercars are selling for... which makes everyone who pays $160K - $200K for a car (people that he admires and therefore is one of) that doesn't perform as well look like a bunch of egotistical, spoiled brats.
(And by the way... you haven't seen pissy, I'm just discussing what this jackass said.)
I'd like to see what he said about the Ford GT40 or GT50 or whatever the hell it's called. Anyone got a link to that, if he did it?

If I remember right he also said some bad things about the ford GT but I think he owns/owned one. I'll see if I can find something about it.
EDIT: Sounds like he liked the GT just one thing ruined it for him.....more info in the story.

Re: Friends car, Sweet
That's pretty bad that they couldn't fix the alarm, he took it better than I thought he would, I actually liked that column for the most part. BUT, the part about americans being "on time" was very out of line. I wonder how many of his relatives were saved by the "on time" American effort in WWII.

Re: Friends car, Sweet
Karma... The god of cars knew he was asshole and acted appropriately. I'm sorry but someone as codgy as that guy should drive an 82 Chevette or Citation for several years just to get a damned reality check.
I'd be pissed if I spent that much money and the car had those kind of problems too, so I sort of feel bad for him. I would genuinely feel bad if he wasn't so opinionated and so willing to share. Like Nate said... Maybe if we were 20 minutes later entering WWII he wouldn't be here. Prick.

LMMFAO! I wonder how close to the truth that might actually be. A person goes into a situation with a preconception, and invariably, they will make that come true. If the same thing happened on a Lambo he might dismiss it as " An annoying little electrical gremlin" but since he wants to bash, it becomes a "major flaw" in the vehicle design.
