Re: Friends car, Sweet
LS1 is probably in more demand. Or at least was.
It isn't put in any cars anymore...so that might be it as well.

14grand is alot of money just for an engine. I bet there is not even 5grand of parts in the dang thing. I would take a LSx for the price difference for sure

The guy's a tool plain and simple. He did seem astonished that it outhandled that zonda, but then again he said the Z06's handling was unsophisticated.
I thought his fat ass would love the fast food feature.
Oh, well I'm done with that rant. I'm so jelaous gold, you've gotta get a video of that thing.

they make more than that. i saw one on the dyno at the carlisle corvette show. it was bone stock and made 468hp on the first pull and 471hp on the second. nothing like the sound of an LS7 at 7,000rpm .

There is more than $5K in that motor...trust me.
It is an incredible motor. Plain and simple.
But GM does want a bunch for the crate motor. Worth it??? Depends on the application.
My 402 makes roughly 625 flywheel horse. Which is what it would be rated at in a new car.
I am the same compression, and LSx. But that is about it.
The LS7 is a motor that will pass emissions, doesn't have a big cam for the cubes, etc.
Like I said...it all depends on how you want to go about building the car it goes into.
Good exhaust will open that 427 up nicely. Probably come close to 540-550 flywheel with longtubes and exhaust.
Mean motor that really sounds fairly tame. Not a loud motor (valvetrain wise) really, and it would be very reliable.
I built mine to make it streetable but still have a good lope and make good power.
Once guys start dropping big cams in those LS7's watch out!!!!

The stig is a maniac. I was getting nervous watching him throw that piece of art around the track like that, I don't know how he kept control.

Re: Friends car, Sweet
there are already zo6's making 700hp on the motor using a cam & boltons. HPE makes a cam package for like $900. then you have companies like sts and lingenfelter with zo6's making 1000+hp with twin turbos. the things that money can buy.

Re: Friends car, Sweet
yeah i dont care what anyone says i would give everything up (which isnt much right now) for a C6 z06 vette. man those are to most amazing vehicles ever! like honestly for 60,000 you cant get a better buy. its all nice and comfy and it hauls ass. i mean if i had the money i would buy one for sure. i dont care if i could buid a faster car for the same price......cause this way i wouldnt have to do the work and its very reliable and gets good mpg. I NEED TO STOP TYPING

That pussy can't admit that it's actually a damned good car. I'd like to see him pay an extra $100k for a Ferrarri whose main difference from the Z06 is the nav system / radio, and the less expensive vehicle is faster and handles better... What a retard.

Re: Friends car, Sweet
Why are all you getting pissy because a guy who has driven some of the best cars in the world said that the ZO6 isn't as refined as a ferrari. He only speaks the truth.
