Same fuel guage problem on my 99 Blazer. Third GM vehicle in a row with this problem, first two being trucks.

I picked a fuel pump and sender off E-bay for $80, works great. But the tank isnt sealed where the pump is installed so I need to drop the tank again and seal it first.

Blazer sending unit
I found this item on Ebay for $42.
The GM Fuel level Sending unit is easy to put on, if you dont take it to a mechanic. I dont know why dealers dont sell this item.
