83 eldo power window motor replacementnt
Hi, can any body tell me where I can get a good diagram of what I'm trying to take apart. I can feel the motor in the door, but cant see how to get it off of the regulator.
Thanks!! Tom |

Welcome to AF.You must remove the regulator with the motor and seperate them, if I remember correctly there is a large spring on the regulator, be careful here. Unless you have done this type of job before you may want to let a body shop do this.

any reputable repair shop will have done hundreds of window motors, its been my experiance that body shops are just that, body shops, not mechanical repair shops

Re: 83 eldo power window motor replacementnt
The regulator is rivited to the door. (4 of them). First , use a sharpie to mark the position of the inner panel cam bolts and then remove the bolts and cam assembly(get a haynes manual at an auto parts store). Next, SECURE the large clock type spring on the regulator. CAUTION......
CAUTION...You must secure the large circular spring to the regulator. I have read you must drill a holethrough the body and a smaller one through the regulator itself and run a nut and bolt through the spring itself to hold it in place while you remove the motor. BE VERY CAREFUL with this large spring because if you knock it loose it will break your fingers or possibly remove them. After doing so Three bolts hold the motor to the regulator. This is all I know. My 83 is in the same boat as yours. Unfortunately my spring sprung and I am here trying to find out how to retension it and put everything back together. On the bright side I still have all my fingers intact! I stumbled on the spring info after the fact...very true. Good luck |
