2000 Isuzu Rodeo - Electrical

Hello,

My headlights and dashboard lights have started flickering, this occurs when I first crank the truck up in the morning and even while stopped at a red light. When I accelerate this does not happen. I replaced my battery and alternator a few months ago. Could it be a fuse problem? The battery and alternator have been checked and are good. Not sure if this matters, but I recently had my water pump and timing belt changed, about a month ago. Two weeks after that I started noticing the flickering. Thanks!

What year truck?

Isuzu's are very picky about what altenator you use in them. Typically they only like oem alts.

Your problem is probably with the alt. Isuzu's don't like aftermarket alts.

hunt ebay or www.car-parts.com for a used one or an orgianal one that was rebuilt.

Thanks... I searched car-parts.com and found a used alternator ($40 buck) plus $75.00 in labor to get it put on over the weekend. The flickering is gone for good I hope . Took the old one back to Oreilly's for a refund totaling $115.00. So i broke even there, I also am waiting to hear back form the district manager regarding my labor charge, he reimburst me the last time I took the first one that they sold me off. I spoke with the office manager this morning he said the alt. tested good so he could not approve the labor charge, but he will talk with the district manager when he stops by today. I told him that it may be testing good, but it's not good my truck. The voltage on my truck was eating that alt. alive....

PS. This site has been so helpful. When I experience small issues with my truck I come here first....Your solutions have been 100% right everytime.

I think I need to add this post to the FAQ's and I think I need to keep an eye on ebay for an alt myself!
