I never understood the appeal of owning a fast SUV....its an oximoron. Trucks are made to go off roading, not to do 155mph. And id personally like the "little 4 door sedan" because when we hit a turn ill be lauging my ass off at you, as you roll down the cliff.....

I think i'd rather have the S4 also
i don't like the mercedes, i'd rather drive our X5
i'm not really an SUV kinda guy though, i like them

just not as your only car. If i had only 1 car, than i wouldn't get an SUV. but i would get an SUV as like a 2nd or 3rd car. Cause you can't drive sporty cars in the winter, and i'd rather have an SUV do drive in the snow than a sedan. So 1. S4 2. SUV

Well, if you want to save gas and eco here in Europe it´s available the E-class 2.2L Diesel with 116HP and 0 to 60mph in about 15¨, 95mph, at about $50000. Imagine if it would arrive in US, I guess never! jejeje

I'm really sorry that u would rather drive an X-5. my roomate is a BMW tech and i quote him when i say that bmw's are the ford of the european car market. The X-5's are the biggest piece of crap and they're hard to work on. I'm not arguing,... merely stating a fact. If u want quality. performance AND a better all wheel drive system go buy a mercedes ML500 or ML55 AMG.

Certainly the ML55 AMG or whatever isn´t about quality or styling, quality & styling = X5. Simple as that.

if you wanna state a fact, show me proof
since every magazine reviews the X5 as one of the BEST SUVs you can buy, with no arguements here, the best handling SUV you can buy.

BMWs are quality cars, that's why my family continues buying them cause we never have any problems with them

Ford of the european market my ass, have you ever been to europe? There aren't that many BMWs around, and most people in europe like BMW.

I'm sorry that you think that BMW is better, but as a Mercedes technician, you'll never convince me that BMW is a superior product. Hands down.

I read in Car & Driver that the X5 uses a anti-slip system that COOKS the brakes because instead of just electronically cutting off power to that wheel, it applies the brakes. Not smart if you ask me.

Mercedes does the same thing. Except it reacts much faster and is far superior to BMW's system.

We're better off in the US without the MB manual. It's a disappointing unit, especially compared to other German sticks. And I can't remember how many times I've read that the MB automatic is an amazing thing. And I believe the new 7 series is only offered with an automatic, at least in the US, and that includes a scary little column-mounted shifter.

ML55 vs. S4. Hmm. How about a Subaru WRX to scare them both. (Somebody slap me for that. Hard.)

The E55 wheels aren't incredibly attractive or even flattering, but the fun part is that you can leave an E55 completely showroom stock, and still embarass most other cars, even when they have been modified.

I'm not convinced that Mercedes quality is as superior as it used to be. Let's see how the current ones hold up after ten or fifteen years, Meanwhile, I'll stick with 1980's models, or maybe an early 90's R127 SL. But if I were offered my choice of an M5 or an E55, but not both, I'd take the E without having to think tooo long about it.

I just wish they could/would bring more diesels over here, so they get the chance to age down to my price range. Hard to maintain my habit with new car prices.

Check out the dual panes of glass on the roof...each with their own electric retractable headliner to block out unwanted sun on really bright days...

What an innovative, great option for your E-class! This roof is perfect for those who can't afford to buy a convertible and a sedan...you get the best of both world's. We say, it's a must have option for the E-class. Brilliant!

Years ago Mercedes had a performance company who tuned MBs creat a car called "The Hammer". It was produced in limited numbers and was a serious rocket ship! Since that time Mercedes has acquired that company and made it the performance arm of Mercedes-Benz. That company is ////AMG and what makes their creations so special compared to other German cars is their durability. They last a very long time. Each engine in an AMG car is made from scratch by one AMG engine technician. Their slogan is, "One man, one engine". The fastest Mercedes made is currently the E55 ////AMG. It has over 400HP in a medium sized chasis. It doesn't need a manual shifter because people who can afford one don't want to shift as they drive through city streets and there is no loss of power when the right foot is in control on the highways.
