Re: 1990 Galant GSX/ 1991 Galant VR4 project
Sounds like a fun little project. Sorry I missed your thread before man. I usually don't get out of the DSM section much. lol
I like the intercooler. Did you just paint it black or did you have it powdercoated?

Re: 1990 Galant GSX/ 1991 Galant VR4 project
not sure... it came that way! looks powdercoated though, it just might be a flat black. either way it works and shouldn't impede it's efficiency by more than 2%

Re: 1990 Galant GSX/ 1991 Galant VR4 project
Yeah, it shouldn't hurt its effectiveness much at all. I just love how it looks though... Maybe I should do something like that with mine too. lol

Re: 1990 Galant GSX/ 1991 Galant VR4 project
ok , so i bought another 4g63t motor w/ a gvr4 trans. pulled it out of number 1198 or something like that. got it all for 400$, but the engine runs on only two cylinders!!!
problem is... i only needed the block. and i actually had to go help pull it out and haul it back... that was the longest day in history
oh well, almost 2 motors worth of stuff can't hurt much!!

Re: 1990 Galant GSX/ 1991 Galant VR4 project
no it isn't f000ing done yet.
but, the engine is in the car, and the rear end is getting swapped over TODAY we took a lunch break, and the bastards that were supposed to have been helping me ARENT so it is just me and my friend from down the street who is perhaps the greatest friend ever!
but we know nothing about what we are taking apart, then putting back together, so i guess we'll see about how this whole deal works out!

Awesome, my motor is finally getting machined and will be assembled soon. I'm very excited for everybodys projects getting closer and closer to completion.

Re: 1990 Galant GSX/ 1991 Galant VR4 project
my update is i have everything, but the injectors aren't getting any signal so they will fire. so hence i'm stuck...
i'm working on getting an evo9 fuel pump though for a later upgrade for ~30 bucks

Re: 1990 Galant GSX/ 1991 Galant VR4 project
Nice bro! Good to find someone else going through the Galant VR-4 build/headache!
J/k haha!
Hell yeah keep in touch we can share do'd & don'ts and are experiences to maybe help each other along! Right now mine won't idle right, and I get fuel cut at about 3800 RPM. So, I'm thinking it's just a timing issue. There are large race cams on, and I think the timing is just jacked, what do you think?
