Re: Headlight Upgrade ??

What? All OEM bulbs that come in vehicles equipped with HID are 4,300k Philips or Osram.

Re: Headlight Upgrade ??

If i go w/ the projectors and all them goodies, how hard is it going to be to get the light to be stright. would how well i mount the projector preety can make or break what im trying to do.? or are there adjusments on the projector? Over all how difficult would u think it would be to do this retrofit? my worry is if i mess up, i would need new headlights, and i have and HID package thats worthelss. My situation is that im not sure how much longer im going to keep the truck. I don't want to put somthing like this in w/o being able to rip it out w/o to much work.

Re: Headlight Upgrade ??

It's really not hard at all. Just a few steps you are going to take, this is by no means a "How-To", but I will make a how to for my next retro. What you are going to want to do is, with a dremel, make a hole in the back of the lamp, enough so that about 1-1.5 inches of the projector can stick out. Make it so that you can put the bulb in the projector, yet the lens will sit back on the headlamp without touching the front of the projector. Visually straighten to projector, and using the given mounting holes, mount the projectors with 4 long screws and nuts. Put the light back on the truck, without the lens on it, and turn on the light. Inspect the beam pattern. If it is straight, put a shroud on it and seal it up. If not, elongate the mounting holes, and rotate the projector. Do it until the pattern is straight.

Re: Headlight Upgrade ??

Thats what i was thinking need to be done. just affrid to crack the hosuing again. When i did it last time for the clear corners, i forget what sealer i used but i know it was heavy duty. I guess if i break them trying to crack the housing again it will give me somthing to practice on LOL. I guess i will still shoot for the whole projector and all. but i still have about a month or 2 till i get out of school and get the money. but i will deff take pics to help who ever is thinking about the same

Re: Headlight Upgrade ??

It is a very tricky process, and what i didn't know is that it is illegal to upgrade your lights (to HIDs) without having upgraded the housing, i.e. the projector or the reflector. However, blazers were not built with the housing, thats why in pictures that people take with "real HIDs", there is so much glare and it is hard to see, because it is the reflector that was made for halogen, which doesnt need a special beam pattern. I am starting a company that mounts projectors in housings like the blazer, the only problem is that the reflector has to be removed if you put in projectors because the proj. is the reflector... Make sense?

Re: Headlight Upgrade ??

The reflector does not have to be removed, I have installed projectors in several housings with the reflector intact
