Exactly why you want a non electronic truck is not known. But if you want a good starting point look for cars that are older than the mid 80's. Also look for trucks with a carb. They are about as simple as you can get.

Re: what year did electronic ignitions come out
By EMP you mean Electro magnetic pulse? If so, an non electric vehicle wont help. All gas engins have electronics, whether it be a coil, point, magnetic pickup distributor, you see where I am going with this. The only thing that might still run would be a deisel, but the only thing is that most deisel vehicles that are still around have some electronics, being alternator, startor, fuel pump and so on. So pretty much your just going to have to choose the best of the evils, knowing that if an emp is used, it will cause chaos and you'll be walking anyway.

Re: what year did electronic ignitions come out
Not to pick nits, but the GM electronic ignitions were available as early as 1973. They were an option on the Corvette, and were not an integral unit. They required a box to be mounted on the fierwall, and a different distributor to operate with the box. This sounds like aftermarket, but it was an option from the factory. Ray

Re: what year did electronic ignitions come out
With a "pre electronic" vehicle, you can purchase spare coils, point/condenser, alt/gen, ect, and store them in a metal garbage can sealed with metal tape.(this acts as a metal faraday cage) Mayby throw in a bag of desiccant for moisture control. In the event of an EMP attack, 30 minutes of wrenching and your back on the road.
