Go to a parts store and get a can of starting fluid, it comes in a spray can and sprays out in a very strong, straight stream. It's only $2 or so.
You need to get it into the intake at the air filter box or between there and the engine however is easiest to do so.
I can't remember on the older Z34 where the snorkel for air into the airbox is. On my car it comes out behind the driver's side headlight.
If you need to, you can loosen any of the clamps around the ducting running from the box to the motor and push it back enough to shoot spray into the duct, then push it back on. Don't bother trying to tighten the clamp back up before trying to start it, the ether will be evaporated by then. Just push it back together and try to start it.
Just remember to tighten the clamp up when you get done messing with it.
