If you want it, check and see if the car is on private property. If its not then you can go to the dmv and claim it after a certain amount of time. I think you have to go to the dmv and tell them that the car is there and that you want to claim it and then after a certain amount of time go back and claim it. At least you can do that in Alabama. A friend of mine was going to get an abandoned supra that way, but it turned out it was on private property and not public.
Wouldn't hurt to ask though.
