Re: Held My Own

smoke on a decent engine that is well taken care of and not beat up, a 100 shot will be just fine. if u do as u say and dont use it all the time im sure your car can handle it. i used it on my stock engine for awhile, started with a 75 shot and raised it to a 120. with the rebuilt engine it takes a 200 shot with a "back up" 100. but ill tell the truth i havent used it with the shot that high. but with what u are wanting u will be more than ok.

good runs man... your car sounds like it runs just as quick as mine... i'm a pretty much even match w/ supercharged cobras... i haven't really gotten a chance to race an '05 gt yet... but i have punked a few of 'em... i've noticed that ford guys often underesitmate the might of the 350... because there are so many worn out and choked 350's on the road that make the rest look bad... but any 350 that runs right and can breathe well is more than enough to take most fords

The Chevy 350 and the Ford 302 have the same size cylinder bore... both have a four inch bore. The 5.0 H.O Mustang and the 5.7 TPI IROC are basically dead even through the 1/4 mile. Here are some examples:

IROC-Z (L98) 0-100 ft. 3.2
0-500 ft. 8.2
0-1,320 ft. 15.3
1/4 mile speed - 90.5 mph
``````````````````````````````````````````
Mustang GT (5.0) 0-100 ft. 3.2
0-500 ft. 8.3
0-1,320 ft. 15.3
1/4 mile speed - 93.0 mph
```````````````````````````````````````````
but we know that the Mustang does not even come close on the road course, the IROC dominates the Mustang through the canyons, the IROC was ahead of its time in handling. I've seen tests and have personal footage showing both the 5.7 TPI IROC and the Mustang GT running 14.8s... and the Mustang LX being lighter, is quicker yet. Actually the 5.0 coupe (trunk cars) with the right driver can run 14.1 to 14.5s all day long... and thats all you will get out of a stock LT1.

I remember reading an article about this race car driver doing a test with both the 5.0 and IROC, same year and all. And said that the Mustang handled better but the IROC felt better when he was turning, so dont know.

Re: Held My Own

Yeah, the 5.0 Coupe LX 5sp is real lite and a LT1 F-body could be a drivers race between the two even though I have seen mags and drivers get high 13's out of a LT1 stock and never seen it out of a 5.0 coupe but they are damn quick. Only drawback is when they come with Auto's. Ford makes some of the crappiest auto tranny's I have ever seen. I was reading in Muscle mustang and fast ford how some AOD lose 40% threw the drivetrain. Thats unheard of.

the tpi is not what i was talkin about... tpi's are relatively choked by their long runners... that's why they are such torque monsters but hp numbers are lacking... if you take a carbed 350 w/ 650cfm or higher carb, headers, and full exhaust with a decent drivetrain... it will run very close to the force inducted fords...

DAMN 40% wtf.. Hey whats the name of the current automatic tranny that Chevy's using? Dont think they'd still be using the 700R4..

Re: Held My Own

They are currently using a 4l65-E but the 4th Gens 94+ got a 4L60-E and the 93 Got 4L60 (which was a 700R4 basically)
