Ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads?

Should I use the ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads on my 98 Blazer? I'm looking at Bosch pads and rotors and the parts guy at Murrays suggested the semi-metallic over the ceramic. Thoughts?

Re: Ceramic or semi-metallic brake pads?

I like semi-metallic, but the choice is really up to you. Each pad has it's own characteristics, you need to pick the one that suits you best.

From http://www.boschusa.com/AutoParts/FAQs/BrakePads/:

Q. How are ceramic brake pads different from semi-metallic brake pads?

A. Ceramic brake pads incorporate a formula that includes ceramic materials and utilizes less metal (approximately 15% metal content by weight). Ceramic brake pads combine exceptional braking power with very quiet and low-dust braking. However, it is not recommended to use ceramic brake pads for towing applications.

Semi-Metallic brake pads incorporate a formula that utilizes approximately 40% or more metal content by weight. Semi-Met brake pads offer premium braking power and work particularly well for towing applications.

There should also be a line in here about the mess they make.

I have the semi-met myself, but I put Ceramics on my Father's car
and he likes the quiet and mess-less operation (Buick LeSabre)
