Re: oil filter adapter problem

How high is your normal oil pressure; and how tight do you usually tighten the oil filter--did you tighten it more when you noticed the oil on it?

Re: oil filter adapter problem

Dont Know What The "normal" Oil Pressure Is ..it Goes All The Way To The End Of The Gauge....and I Hand Tight The Filter(1/2 To 3/4 Of A Turn After The Rubber Gasket Touches)...and Yes I Did Tighten The Filter When I Saw Oil...

Re: oil filter adapter problem

I think perhaps the problem is your oil pump relief valve sticking and overpressuring the system. Normal oil pressure for a new chevy 350 is between 30-45 lbs or halfway to 3/4 on the gauge. I would hook up a temp press gauge with numbers and see how high it is. If relief valve is sticking you could use lighter oil or add a quart of dexxron in place of one quart of oil to free it up- or pull pan and check the pump.

Re: oil filter adapter problem

got a new adaptor with oil cooler lines...this one seems to be alot stronger...put it one last night and it seems to run fine...but this morning it seems to have dripped a little oil..but i dont know if its from the adaptor or if its from all the oil that sprayed all over the place when the old adaptor broke....how tight should this one be(oil filter adaptor with oil cooler)?
