My question is; If you don't reset the computer will It learn the new fuel mix on it's own over time? Thanks.

Yeah, it will eventually learn. Either way, it takes about 250 miles to figure out what's going on and stabilize. Resetting it after you're done though forces it to learn some things much faster, like idling, idling under load (Lights on, wipers going and A/C turned up full blast - hey sometimes we get caught in muggy hurricanes) and the like. Resting your foot on the brake and letting it idle with no accessories on at first, and in drive for two minutes pretty much sets it's idle curves right away. It will take some spirited driving and a mix of highway/side street driving for it to figure it all out. At first though, she'll move pretty quick with just a stab on the gas. Then she'll adjust and mellow out a little. The wheel burning launches will still be there, but you have to snap the throttle open from a start for it to go "Okay, we're moving!" Have fun.

not worth it though.
You will see the same performance out of the ebay kits for 40 bucks.

Intake
[color=darkred]Everyone that I've ever talked to about the 'whole' cold air intake kits, has said it uses more gas and gives a very little noticeable increase in power. You guys have obviously used it on a 4.3L though. Is it worth the $40, $200, or $400? Is It hard to install the FIPK kit? Do I ask too many questions?

Re: Air Intake - Performance matters!
Your friends are wrong, it uses more gas because people tend to like to open throttle it a lot more with the intake on.
Upgrade your muffler before you install an intake.
You need to get rid of the exhaust better before you allow the engine to intake more air.
It is really not worth 200 when you can get the ebay kits for 440 which are practically identical performance wise.

I have the K & N filter in my air box now, but I believe when I upgrade I will install one off of ebay. It is all the same, you are only paying for the name. As far as power and mileage, I can definitely tell that the truck runs smoother, never noticed mileage or power though.

Thanks LT! To be completely honest with you, I have been looking at a lot of engine upgrades and I was about to go out and get an Intake kit before exhaust. I heard a lot about this muffler from Middas (from you guys). Does it top a MagnaFlow? I like the MagnaFlow because it has that quiet but "I still got balls" sound. Again, I'm not after sound. I want Performance.

Re: Air Intake - Performance matters!
You want a straight through design bro.
No defectors in the muffler.

Re: Air Intake - Performance matters!
yeah, there is rubber that will stretch a little....and rubber that wont go on unless you heat it up a lot and freeze the throttle intake piece in some Liquid O2. I got the latter
so EXACTLY how much does the intake shrink when you dunk it in your liquid O2? OMG like you could even see the diff.
Are you the pres. of the liar's club?

Re: Air Intake - Performance matters!
I would have to agree with BlazerLT as far as the air intake. Sure, k&n is known for performance and reliability but it's just wire and cotton. I have recently installed a cold air intake on my 98 (that i got off ebay for $48) and i love it. I have noticed better throttle response and an average increase in gas mileage of about 2 mpg.
