How do I get my cigarette lighter to work???

I had a cell phone car charger in it and one day when I pulled it out, i saw sparks and that was that. No new car chargers work and the lighter won't light so I know it must be a fuse or something. I looked at the fuse panel and didn't see anything that said lighter. I don't have the owner's manual and I'm trying not to pay some nerd at the dealership an arm and a leg for 5 minutes of simple work that I can do. Somebody PLEASSSSSSSSSSSSE HELP

The fuse for the cig. lighter and accessory power outlet on your Alero should be located in the engine compartment fuse block. Marked minifuse #34. Good luck!

If its not the fuse like bnaylor3400 said, you can get the lighter from the dealership and install it yourself. If you are going to install yourself, please rember to disconnect the batt, or you will have a VERY bad day! good luck!

Vamc,

I'm not going to second guess the guy. He was looking for the fuse and I gave him the proper directions to it. He can speak for himself.

As to the Alero's wiring and overload protection related to the cig. lighter and the accessory outlet try running a low power air compressor on that circuit for a few minutes and see what it does to the fuse.
If his fuse is popped he's got to replace it first even before putting in a cig. lighter and receptacle as you suggest which is a good suggestion by the way if all else fails.

On all other issues let it rest.
