How to install HKS Twin Power??
Hi,
I just bought a R33 GTR V-spec and I would like to know how to install the HKS Twin Power DLI. Would someone please teach me how I could install it. I wanted to know where to tap the wires and where exactly is the ignition switch. I tried to open the engine cover and looked at the wires on the coils, but don't know which wires to tap. Please help, i would really appreciated. |

Re: How to install HKS Twin Power??
1st....you live in bellevue...which is not far from my house. second....the last r33 that was for sale here in washington (which I ALMOST bought) got sold to some kid that now goes to central....for a high school graduation present from his parents. that was almost 7 months ago now.
but as per your question, the ignition switch should be your key hole. as...thats where the main switch for the ignition is...but if you are refering to something else, your best bet is to find a wiring diagram for the ignition system, and that would be the easiest way to find exactly what you are trying to find.

Re: How to install HKS Twin Power??
there is a small box in the rear part of the middle cover, you'll have to splice there. there is a harness that they sell over here in japan to make all nice and neat. I had that installed to my previous R, it works great. get that harness.

Twin powers suck. Dont get water anywhere near that thing...... just let water drip on it and they fail.....
The ignition system on a GT-R is very strong. There is no need to upgrade it on most cars. |

Re: How to install HKS Twin Power??
The standard ignition coils are renowned for having their spark 'blow out' above 18psi or more than 500HP@fly. Fitting the HKS twin power kit is recommended under these conditions.
From memory, they wiring is complicated and better to have a mechanic or auto-electrician install it, Hi voltages could KILL YOU or fry your electrical system if U phuck up the install.

Re: How to install HKS Twin Power??
The twin power is nothing more than a storage capacitor. Not only that its very tempermental. I have had one too many fail on me and leave me on the side of the road.
If you are putting the spark out, close the gap or run a colder plug. With 1.5 bar and 150 hp direct port once we closed the gap up we were fine. We put a B & M new volt on it to increase voltage to the coils to 20 volts, and then we were fine to 2.2+ bar and 150 hp direct port. Thats with Apex Iridium 8 plugs and a real tight gap. |
