Very true, therefore using a lighter weight oil allows the oil to quickly reach critical upper valvetrain components when a cold engine is first started.

Again, why would we use 10W-30 at all? Or to make it more direct, why is it YOU don't use 0W-30 in YOUR engines?

Why don't I use 0W30? That's a good question. I don't use 0W30 because my Rodeo doesn't have a chronic lifter tick problem (it uses about a quart every 1000-1500 mi. but it does so quietly). Every single oil change from the day it left the dealer has been Mobil1 5W30. But should my truck's lifters start to tick I would switch to 0W30.

Here's a better question. Why would you bother putting 0W30 in you engine if you are just going to go back to using the oil that makes it tick? It makes about as much sense as deciding to go on a diet but only watching what you eat for one meal.

That's just my 2 cents though, when all is said and done it's your vehicle and you should do whatever you think is right.
