remote start using stock remote
I read somewhere in another forum where someone rewired the stock keyless entry system so that the panic button on the factory remote would activate the remote start. Does anyone know how to do this or have wiring diagrams for this area.

Re: remote start using stock remote
Well, yes you can use OEM remotes to be used for the remote starter but not the panic button. Obviously you'd set off the panic. The way these add on remote starters work is usually by either a - or pos trigger. Usually these triggers need to be triggered multiple times in order for them to work. Reason is that they are usually hooked up to the lock output. Like the 561r Valet units I sell. You can actually use them without their remotes. All you have to do hook one of the inputs to the lock motor wires.
All of this is pointless though. Reason is that OEM keyless is only good for about 100' while the cheapest Valet from DEI will easily do 500'

Re: remote start using stock remote
Hello,
I just had the Viper remote start alarm system installed for $500. It's pretty nice because if your alarm goes off, you will be notified up to 4 miles away on your remote. Plus you can start your truck up to 1/4 mile away. I love mine... definately worth the $500.
